Can Someone Answer This Science Question About Iceman And Genetics?

Scientists believe they may be able to identify the closest living descendants of the Iceman. How might this be possible? Does anyone know? Could they possibly do this by studying it’s DNA and comparing it’s chromosomes and other characteristics of the strand to living organisms presently? Thanks for your help.
