How Do You Determine If A Child Will Be Bald Or Not Through Genetics?

I know that it is a sex linked gene on the X chromosome, or I could be wrong. So is that why they tell you that if you look at your mother’s father that is a good indication? However, I have heard that the mother’s father is not the only indicator. Can someone please clarify?
