The symptoms of “defective” human genes are tumors, and mutants (not the X-men kind of thing).
The effect of human genetics is that we, as humans, now understand better about ourselves — our body, how it works, and how to eradicate diseases.
Genetics was probably first discovered by the monk, Gregor Mendel, in the 19th century, when he cultivated his own peas. But earlier reference of genetics have been postulated over the years.
Human genetics is not a sickness to be cured. What needs to be “cured” is the effect of “deffective” genes or “abberant” mutations in our genes.
Genetically transmitted diseases will be someday be cured by gene therapy, like changing the defective gene with a good one.
